"Maureen" Sterling Silver and Lace Earrings
These large dangle earrings shaped like leaves are handmade from 1950’s French Calais Guipure lace originally used for fine dresses, then dipped in sterling silver. The leaf earrings from the Gilded Lace jewelry collection are also available in 24k yellow or rose gold on request.
The earrings measure about 2-3/4 inches tall and 1-1/4 inches wide and hang from sterling silver French hooks.
The process of handcrafting Gilded Lace jewelry is effort and time-intensive. First, the lace is cut with precision. The edges are sealed by hand-sewing on ribbons. Then the lace is sealed and shaped by dipping it into lacquer and molding it to a final shape.
After a dip in a bath of either sterling silver or 24K gold, The jewelry is filed by hand. Every hole is carefully smoothed to ensure a comfortable fit and that the lace pattern is clearly visible down to the finest detail. The jewelry is then shined and ready to wear.
